An Introduction to the Central Library at the University of Anbar
The Central Library was established in 1988. Its beginnings were simple, comprising books, references, and research published by the university, in addition to some simple specialized collections. The number of books contained did not exceed 2,000, including reference books, sources, periodicals, theses, and university dissertations. The library's collection expanded, reaching 80,000 books before the terrorist ISIS attacks on the governorate, as well as the barbaric destruction of the Central Library building. The Central Library has risen again thanks to the efforts of its zealous staff, and has taken serious steps to introduce new, advanced services to enhance the services it provides and grow its collection, meeting the needs of its users. The library aims to implement modern technologies and bring about a qualitative shift in the development of libraries at the University of Anbar, keeping pace with contemporary developments.
